Another strong ridership month
TriMet bus and MAX ridership figures continued to climb in December 2008, with 8.1 million rides taken during the month. Some of the increase was due to more weekdays this year compared to 2007, and new riders traveling on transit during the winter storm. All figures are compared to December 2007.
Bus and MAX ridership
- Weekly bus and MAX trips were up 4.5 percent over the previous December, averaging 1.86 million trips.
- Weekday bus and MAX rides were up 4.8 percent to 305,900.
- Weekend rides were up 3 percent to 328,900.
- Rush hour trips on bus & MAX were up 11.7% averaging 103,900 trips.
Bus ridership
- Weekly bus trips increased 2.4 percent to 1.2 million trips.
- Weekday bus trips increased 3.2 percent to 199,500 trips.
- Rush hour bus trips rose 11.7 percent to 71,600.
MAX Ridership
- Weekly MAX trips increased 6.4 percent to 661,500 trips.
- Weekday MAX trips increased 7.9 percent to 106,400 trips.
- Rush hour trips increased 11.8 percent to 32,300 boardings.
