Transit Photo o’ The Day #003 - Transportation Signs

  Transit Sleuth

One of the things anyone notices in the morning here in Portland is the bicyclists.  Literally thousands of people ride into downtown every morning.  One of the major routes is across the Hawthorne Bridge.  This photo I grabbed from the Hawthorne Bridge, a Bike Route Sign, and downtown Portland in the background.  I thought this an accurate display of what so much of Portland is about.  If you like bikes, don’t, think riders should be taxed, or hate that they even are in the road, the fact is, Portland is uber bike friendly.

Here’s another sign from Hawthorne Bridge that shows the bus lines that come across the bridge to enter downtown proper.  #4, #6, #10, $14, and #33 are all regular service buses.  #31 and #32 are a little less frequent and I believe only run 5 or 6 days a week.  The #41 is a rush hour service only bus.  Needless to say, for anyone that lives in the lofts on the east side, there are more transit options for entering Portland here or leaving South East Portland than anywhere else in the city.
